Sleep Creeps Now

Sleep creeps now
Ink dribbles and dries
Upon pages
The moon wanes
Darkening a dark night

Sleep creeps now
When images fantastic collide
With waking, walking memory
Pillows give
To the iron weight of heads

Sleep creeps now
Into worlds imagined
And others unimaginable
Beasts prowl in long grasses
Sap seedlings sprout into trees
Heavy clouds blot the room
Distant voices invocate

Sleep creeps now
Adventure awaits

Chris - I have enjoyed this piece on several occasions and I am always haunted by a hint of fear in what lies ahead, in dreams, in life, in any endevor one partakes, especially that of a creative nature. The excitement / dread of something unknown, either in the approach to or in the course of. Nice work !
